Our Programs - Color Belt
Our Color Belt programs are divided between ages and belt levels to ensure classes where every student can be challenged to reach their goals. Our Instructor to Student ratio is set so that each class can run smoothly and so that all students can get the proper attention needed to achieve their best.
Although our school boasts many students with 5, 10, and even 15 years of experience, they all started at the same place. The first step to becoming a Martial Artist is to take a chance and try it out!
Our friendly instructors and students will make you or your child feel comfortable from Day 1.
Lil' Dragons (Ages 4-5)
Our Lil' Dragons program is designed to introduce younger children (ages 4-5) to a fun learning environment. Instructors teach the young children how to focus, listen to directions, and behave better at the home. The fun environment helps shyer students develop social skills while gaining confidence.
Physically, the Lil' Dragons will develop balance, build strength, and learn coordination with the fun drills taught in class. The basic Taekwondo movements they learn also help build motor skills and control. Lil’ Dragons are also taught Taekwondo Forms to help with their memory and concentration.
Due to the age of these young children, the instructors of this class emphasize the discipline and skill building aspects of Taekwondo more than absolute precision. The foundations of Taekwondo are taught, until they are ready to be promoted to the Children’s Classes.
Beginner Children's Class (Ages 5-11)
The Beginner Children’s Class is a program for newer students of Taekwondo to start learning the basics of Martial Arts. Our instructors start off by teaching new students proper Taekwondo etiquette, such as bowing to the flag and putting one’s shoes away, to promote respect and responsibility. Chang Brothers teaches students about the martial arts way of life, in small steps.
Classes are broken up into 10 minute segments of warm-up, foundation-building, core Taekwondo, branch Taekwondo, and mental focus. The focus of how each class is run is chosen by the Master and Instructors beforehand to ensure a smoothly run class. Students also learn Verbal Judo, which is an anti-bullying program designed to help students achieve confidence and deal with bullies without using physical contact.
The instructors that help out at these classes must go through weekly meetings to learn how to best encourage and motivate the children.
Intermediate Children's Class (Ages 5-11)
When students reach the Blue-Tip Belt (12-18 months), they are able to join the Intermediate Children's Class. By the time they reach this class, they have learned the fundamentals of Taekwondo with respect, discipline, forms, and techniques to be able to further their training.
These students will learn advanced kicks, hand techniques, and stances. They will also learn more self-defense, begin light contact Olympic Sparring with full gear, and keep perfecting past material.
Advanced Children's Class (Ages 5-11)
(Recommended Black Belt)
When students reach their Red-Tip Belt (18-30 months), students will move onto the Children's Advanced Class. In this class, the students are pushed to their limits both physically and mentally as they get closer to black belt and start focusing on what it means to be a true martial artist and Taekwondo student.
Teen & Adult Classes
Teen Classes (Ages 10-17)
Our teen program helps students become more active, learn self-defense, and build discipline with Taekwondo. More importantly, it is a safe structured environment where teens can learn how to become strong individuals that can overcome obstacles in life. Our teen program is more fast paced than the children's classes and they must learn a wider range of forms and techniques for their testing material.
Adult Classes (18+)
This program is made for adults as a stress reliever and a place where one can get a great workout while learning something new. Our school focuses mainly on flexibility, self-defense, and cardio fitness with this class. Since the adult program is separate from the teens, there are smaller classes where each adult can work at their own pace and get individual instruction from the Master.
