WHAT IS KI ENERGY?

Ki energy is force that governs the human body functions. Ki energy is LIFE energy, which is only found in living beings. When a living being is born into the world, KI energy enables this being to exist. Ki energy exists as an embodiment of negative (um) and positive (yang) energies, and these two forces should be balance in the body in order to maintain optimum health.  In the human body, there are two forces of Ki energy.  Ki energy exists as  Wae Kong (Ki energy based on physical strength) and  Nae Kong (Ki energy based on the life force)Wae Kong is supported by physical fitness and strength (i.e; cardiovascular health, muscle strength, bone density.)

Nae Kong is supported by breathing techniques and meditation.

As Martial Artists, we regularly practice the strengthening of Wae Kong, however, the purpose of this article is to teach the martial artist how to strengthen Nae Kong.

The journey of a martial artist is life-long. I have observed that there are five major stages in the Martial Artist's training. I call this sequence the five ideals of martial artist, which are acquired through regular martial arts training and experience.

Level One: PHYSICAL FITNESS

An individual will begin training in the martial arts to improve his/her physical fitness.

Level Two: Self-Defense Ability

The martial artist must reach black belt, 1st and 2nd Degree. The black belt is only the beginning of real martial arts training. Self-defense ability is attained at this level.

Level Three: To Share Knowledge

The senior black belt instructor 3rd and 4th Degree is motivated to help others develop their martial arts skills. This is a tradition of the martial arts which has insured its survival.

Level Four: Personal Enlightenment and the Development of Nae Kong

When the black belt instructor reaches this level in his/her training, he/she has reached the level of master instructor(5th Degree). The black belt feels the need to understand himself deeply, and to practice ways in which to tap into this level of awareness. This is the area of training necessary for the master instructor. * Knowing others in wisdom, knowing oneself is Enlightenment *

Level Five: Guiding Others to Live the Ultimate Way of Life

The master instructor must reach personal enlightenment, therefore living in harmony with nature in the natural Healthy way of life. At this stage, the master instructor has acquired the advanced KI energy training methods of the grand master. His wisdom is deeply rooted in his own existence; therefore, he become a guide for others to live the Ultimate Way of Life.

The practice of developing the martial artist's Nae Kong is my focus. In order to learn Nae Kong, the individual must practice breathing, meditation techniques, and also understand the Ki Energy that flown in the universe of living things.
